Damon Johnson stole the show; Lynyrd Skynyrd still has it!
Opening act Damon Johnson was a great intro for the night, very welcoming. Damon shared some music that touched the audience and was both talented and humble.
Marshall Tucker was having a jam session, asking us to participate. They did only a couple of 'real' songs, with the lead guy trying to engage the audience by pointing to different band members for solos. They seemed more like a dress rehearsal than a band. The lead guy made some ignorant and inappropriate remarks about masks and the pandemic, despite being critical of politics in the music industry.
Lynyrd Skynyrd did not disappoint, delivering all the expected hits and having the crowd standing the entire time. They were tight and still had it, although they went overboard with the flag parts. The rebel flag rednecks were encouraged, but that's expected from Skynyrd. No original members, but they pulled it off, thanks in part to Rickey Smiley. Despite the flag controversy, the performance was very enjoyable.
The star of the main event was Damon, hats off to him. I tried to get a Damon shirt after the concert, but unfortunately, his merchandise was not available.
